ReThread Apprenticeship & Development Programs
The ReThread Project is filling a void in training; many programs lack hands-on experience to help new workers thrive and experienced workers take on new roles in our industry.
We intend to create a new pipeline of workers, equipping them with the skills needed to thrive. We understand that many lack a formal degree; for us, a passion and an understanding of the craft are what’s needed.

Our Impact To Date
To date, ReThread has hosted four six-week junior apprentice programs, each tailored to the participants’ unique skills and learning goals.
-
3 inside costume shops
-
1 on an indie feature film
-
2 resulted in full-time job placements inside 2 different costume shops.
-
1 resulted in attending the first-ever costume fitting, shadowing the designer, working with the performer, and building towards union days.
Meet Nyta
One of our first junior apprentices, Nyta, has been working full-time for almost two years at one of our partner costume shops. Some of her highlights have included contributing to productions like Hamilton and Wicked, as well as her personal favorite, Chappell Roan.
