The Helen Uffner Theater & Film Designer Vintage Research Grant

Calling All NYU Grad Students with a Passion for Vintage!

Applications are now open for the Helen Uffner Theater & Film Designer Vintage Research Grant — an exciting opportunity for costume design students who live and breathe vintage fashion. This grant was founded in honor of the brilliance of Helen Uffner.

This unique experience includes:

  • Two immersive days working hands-on at Helen Uffner’s renowned vintage collection

  • Two to three days of intensive pattern development under the expert guidance of legendary costume shop owner Sally Ann Parsons

  • The chance to select an authentic vintage piece from Helen’s archives and translate it into a custom pattern with Sally Ann

  • 4–6 weeks of paid research and design work

If you have a keen eye for period garments and a foundation in patterning, this is your moment.  If you are an individual or entity who would like to contribute to this wonderful grant the ReThread Project would be grateful. â€‹
